Snowbombing
When: 9th – 14th April
Where: Mayrhofen, Austria
Why go: Regarded as many as the ‘greatest show on snow’, the 2012 festival is set to be bigger and better than before. Snowbombing is an exhilarating week-long festival which embraces music from a wide spectrum of artists. With 19-hours non-stop action every day, this is not a festival for the faint-hearted. Example, Groove Armada Present Red Light and Wretch 32 are the first acts to be announced for the 2012 festival with more acts to be announced over the coming weeks.

Zermatt Unplugged
When: 17th- 21st April
Where: Zermatt, Switzerland
Why go: Zermatt Unplugged marks the end of the skiing season in style. But this is no ordinary festival, there is no ear-splitting decibels, bass levels or a mass of bouncing flesh that could cause an potential avalanche, all the musicians use acoustic instruments and it has increasing become a meeting place for fans of authentic sounds. The festival attracts thousands of skiers and snowboarders who combine their love for the slopes with their love for music. The 2011 event saw a massive expansion to previous years with the action spread across nine venues dotted around the alpine village. A big bonus is that the event is largely free, this year only ten of the 45 acts appearing required a ticket and with the ability to be on the slopes to catch a gig it is a real pleasure for those wanting to make the most of the slopes. The line up for Zermatt Unplugged is due to be announced in December.
